How do you define academic integrity?

Question Mark You may have heard of academic integrity and know CCCOnline has an Academic Integrity Policy. Yet, have you defined academic integrity and what it means for your profession? Let's explore the words academic and integrity:

You are an academic if you are associated with an academy. An academy is commonly defined as a college or other organization focused on education. To have integrity commonly means to act with honesty.

Thus, academic integrity can be defined as acting honestly in all college related activities. Although definitions and policies for academic integrity vary, they always involve an expectation for students to act honestly in coursework. Academic integrity policies and procedures also involve an expectation for faculty to implement and facilitate academic integrity in courses.
